To buy or not to buy?

I'm fairly new to this whole art game. Awhile back, I discovered this wonderful world while flipping through an issue of Juxtapoz magazine. Just recently I abandonned my sports card collecting and started buying art books. So far I have several books from Todd Schorr, Ron English, Mark Ryden, and James Jean.
While searching the 'net for some good deals, I came across this site and found what seemed to be a real sweet deal. For $50, you can get a copy of Ghosts and Martyrs/ Martyrs and Ghosts signed and sketched by both Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters. Wow!! That's easily the best bang-for-your-buck deal I've seen. But before I could finalize my purchase, I got hit with the catch.
I live up in Canada, so I selected that country for my shipping information. Guess how much it costs to ship to Canada? $40! Dang! Suddenly that sweet deal wasn't so sweet with an additional $40 for shipping. Just out of curiousity I entered 90210 as my zip code (only American zip code I know, lol) and saw that US residents only get charged $13 for shipping. Why no love for your neighbours to the North?
So what do you guys think, is that $50 book deal worth it even with an extra $40 for shipping? I could live with paying $20-25 for shipping, but $40 seems a little much.

Well, if you don't mind a non-sketched copy, you can get one from from Wizard Sleeve Toys http://www.wizardsleevetoys.com/index.p ... &Itemid=10 for $40 (knock it down to $32 using the code "stillstoked") and their shipping quote was $26 for USPS Priority Mail International. Making your total only $58 for a non-signed version.
I'm sort of confused... Are you saying you found THIS site, as in CP, or "I found this site" as in some random site somewhere else? Because I find it incredibly hard to believe that B&K would charge that much for shipping... And they do have it for sale in the CP shop the way you mentioned.
shipping to Canada is ridiculously expensive for some reason.
and if it is the cp website then they charge for express international shipping too - which is quite pricey
The one in the CP eBay lists $36 for express shiping to Canada.

I was talking about this site Circus Posterus. And I was just checking out their shipping rates again and it seems that international orders from Afghanistan to Switzerland and all points in between all get charged the same $40 rate.
I was reading some of the other comments and wondered if the price is that high because they ship it express? I wouldn't mind waiting 2-3 weeks and paying less, but that doesn't appear to be an option.
dimply_gecko, thanks for the heads up on that other deal, but I was really looking forward to an autographed copy. I'll check out the site and see if they have anything else I might like.
Thanks for all the replies.
CP always quote express shipping prices for international orders as its tracked and insured... hope you get your signed copy!
Interesting. I had no idea it was that much. I'd say to go for it since you want the autographed/sketched aspect of it. It really is a fantastic book, and if you want it you should go ahead and grab it.
Buy now, worry later has always been my motto.

ALWAYS to buy. It's a great book, you won't be disappointed. And the sketches make it all the more special.

Vinyl Fallout has the books signed and sketched on sale for $25.95 on the website. That is such a great price I bought one, and I had already purchased one prior from Kathy & Brandt at Dragon Con.
